Episode Summary

Polina and the crew lay their two histories side by side and find the point where they diverge: the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, which became World War Three on Astra's timeline but was avoided on Earth's. Earth instead faced an asteroid, and humanity moved to a new planet through artificial wormholes — making everyone on Astra a descendant of Earth. On Planet Galem, Kanata sets a trap by naming Ulgar as the traitor, and the real culprit steps into it: Charce, a clone of Noah Vix, king of Vixia.

🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

get to the bottom of ~

  • I think if we really want to get to the bottom of this conundrum, then we need to compare our histories.
  • We need to get to the bottom of this before Friday.

find out ~ が結果を知るのに対し、get to the bottom of ~ は原因までたどる——途中で止めないのが違い。

02

cease to exist

  • An outdated geopolitical term. They've ceased to exist.
  • The company ceased to exist in 1998.

03

dwell on ~

  • You see, in school, we're taught to always look towards the future instead of dwelling on the past.
  • Don't dwell on one bad review.

Don't dwell on it.

04

be reduced to ~

  • The conflict only lasted two months, but half the world's population was lost, and our planet was reduced to a barren wasteland.
  • The building was reduced to rubble.

be reduced to tears(泣かされる)、be reduced to ~ing(〜するしかなくなる)と人にも使えます。

05

set aside one's differences

  • People set aside their differences and worked together to rebuild society at a rapid pace.
  • The two teams set aside their differences for one week.

06

be far from ~

  • Yes. And though it was far from peaceful, we avoided starting a global war.
  • The design is far from finished.

07

overshadow ~

  • However, a far greater threat emerged, one that overshadowed petty human conflicts.
  • One mistake overshadowed a decade of good work.

be more important than ~ が比較なのに対し、overshadow ~ は相手を目立たなくする——並べていないのが違い。

08

hear ~ out

  • So let's hear Polina out.
  • Just hear me out before you decide.

目的語は必ず間に入れます(hear me out/× hear out me)。

09

see ~ through

  • If the enemy was sent to kill all of us, then they would need to see it through to the end.
  • She saw the project through despite the setbacks.

(She saw me through it.)。

10

for what it's worth

  • For what it's worth, I still believe in you!
  • For what it's worth, I thought you did well.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

In 1963, the United World Government was established, which unified the planet's remaining population.

PATTERN 2

Assuming that is true, why would he resume the killing spree now?

Assuming all goes well(順調にいけば)のように見積もりの前置きとしてもよく使います。

PATTERN 3

Meaning, the killer was whoever entered the wormhole last.

Whoever did this will be found.

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

get to the bottom of ~

Let me get to the bottom of this and I'll call you back.(調べてから折り返します)のように仕事の返答にそのまま使えます。うしろは名詞か wh節(the bottom of what happened)。謎・不具合・食い違いと結びつきやすく、人には使いません(× get to the bottom of him)。
