Episode Summary

Polina and the crew lay their two histories side by side and find the point where they diverge: the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, which became World War Three on Astra's timeline but was avoided on Earth's. Earth instead faced an asteroid, and humanity moved to a new planet through artificial wormholes — making everyone on Astra a descendant of Earth. On Planet Galem, Kanata sets a trap by naming Ulgar as the traitor, and the real culprit steps into it: Charce, a clone of Noah Vix, king of Vixia.

tail ~

  • Zack and I will tail you.
  • Someone's been tailing us since the station.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

I bet +

But I bet the government will help us out until we graduate.

I bet you're tired.

PATTERN 2

Probably thought it was too risky to go after all of us together.

not は要りません(× too risky not to go)。for + 人を挟めば誰にとってかまで言えます(too hard for me to read)。

PATTERN 3

How's ~ been?(〜はどうだった?)

How's the trip been for you?

How was ~? How've you been?(元気にしてた?)

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

catch on

It took me a while to catch on.(しばらく気づかなかった)のように自分の鈍さを軽く言うのにも使えます。対象を言うなら to を足します(catch on to the joke)。

この 中級版 では、catch on / stick with ~ / tail ~ / keep some distance from ~ / walk ~ home のようなその場で口をついて出る言い回しを中心に据えました。

I bet ~ / too + 形容詞 + to ~ / How's ~ been?
