Episode Summary

The sphere spits Team B-5 out into open space, where they reach an empty ship. Aries drifts away with a dead suit and Kanata goes out on a cable to bring her back, unhooking himself when the line runs short. Once aboard, Zack works out that they are 5,012 light years from home with three days of water. The group finally introduces itself, plots a route across five planets, and names the ship Astra.

stick together / Brace yourselves!

stick together

  • No matter what, we have to stick together.
  • Stick together and we'll be fine.

02

Brace yourselves!

  • Incoming gravity! Brace yourselves!
  • Brace yourselves — this is going to be loud.

Be careful! 相手が一人なら Brace yourself!brace for ~ と for を足せば「〜に備える」——brace for impact は機内放送の定番です。

hold on tight

  • Just hold on tight, okay?
  • Hold on tight — the road gets bumpy.

Hang on tight.

04

out of reach

  • Again, I'm just out of reach!
  • Keep the matches out of reach.

値段・目標にも使え、out of reach for most people のように広がります。

05

come up with ~

  • We need to come up with, like, a plan or something!

  • We're obviously gonna have to keep a close eye on you.

It's fine. が許すのに対し、It's no biggie. No biggie.

  • Plus, look on the bright side, at least none of us kicked the bucket!
  • Look on the bright side — you got the day off.

Cheer up. on を落とさない(× look at the bright side も聞きますがon が標準)。

09

Make up your mind!

  • Make up your mind!
  • Take your time, but make up your mind by noon.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

Don't you dare +

Don't you dare let go of me.

dare のうしろは動詞の原形(× Don't you dare to let go)。Don't you dare!

PATTERN 2

Can you stop + 動詞ing?(〜するのやめてくれる?)

Can you stop freaking out? We need to come up with a plan!

Please don't ~ がこれからなのに対し、Can you stop ~ing? Could you ~?

PATTERN 3

It's not like + 主語 + 動詞(別に〜というわけじゃない)

It's not like it's your fault your suit totally malfunctioned.

It isn't your fault.

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

stick together

If we stick together, we'll get through this.(みんなで固まっていれば、乗り越えられる)のように使えます。
