Episode Summary

Kanata quietly sizes up each crew member, trying to work out who cut the communicator. Over a meal, Aries mentions she transferred in June and Funicia says she was adopted the same month — and that a man in sunglasses spoke the words "B-5" the night she arrived at the home. The group concludes they were chosen to die together. Then a meteoroid punches a hole in the ship, and they have eight minutes to run a cable to the backup generator before Shummoor's gravity pulls them down.

🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

come in handy

  • Who knew being good at arts and crafts would come in handy?
  • Take the small screwdriver — it might come in handy.

come in を分けない(× come handy)。

02

Chill out.

  • Chill out, dude.
  • Chill out — we still have an hour.

Calm down. すら失礼になることがあるので、Take your time. Just chill.

03

Nice try.

  • Nice try, but I don't really do the whole "friend" thing.
  • Nice try — I'm not falling for that.

Good job.

04

Heads up!

  • Heads up!
  • Heads up — the delivery is coming at noon.

Look out! a heads-up と名詞にすれば「事前の知らせ」——Thanks for the heads-up.

05

Nailed it!

  • Nailed it! Safety lock disabled!
  • First take — nailed it.

I did it!

06

Clock's ticking.

  • Clock's ticking, Prince Charming!
  • Clock's ticking — decide.

Hurry up. The clock is ticking.

07

Stay away from me.

  • Stay away from me.
  • Stay away from me until you've calmed down.

Leave me alone. が「放っておいて」なのに対し、Stay away from me. from を落とさない(× stay away me)。

08

Stop joking around.

  • Why is no one listening to me? Stop joking around!
  • Stop joking around — this is serious.

Be serious.

09

What a relief!

  • What a relief! So, it's all just an accident?
  • The test was negative — what a relief!

I'm glad. a を落とさない(× What relief)。That's a relief.

10

Do me a favor and ~

  • Hey, Yun-hua, do me a favor and toss me my bag.
  • Do me a favor and close the window.

Could you ~? Do me a favor and ~ は気安い——親しい相手向けなのが違い。and のあとは動詞の原形(× do me a favor to close)。Can you do me a favor?

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

I tried to check for unknown pathogens, but you're fine. Must be fatigue.

否定は can't be ~(× mustn't be は「してはいけない」)。

PATTERN 2

Why don't we delay the landing for a bit?

(Why don't you rest?)、we

PATTERN 3

Imagine if he had a real gun. He'd be like a vigilante super-hero!

What if ~?

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

come in handy

Bring a plastic bag — it'll come in handy.(袋を持っていきなよ、きっと役に立つから)のように使えます。come in はひと続き——come handy とは言いません。
