Episode Summary
On Shummoor, Kanata forbids the crew from hunting for the traitor. The planet looks barren but hides candy flowers, water-filled cacti and friendly Gruppies — and, under the moss, the carcasses of animals killed by poisonous spores. Yun-hua slips away, believing she is useless; while Kanata talks her down, Luca and Ulgar collapse from the spores, and the antidote turns out to be the one mushroom they already gave away.

🔥 Must-Know Expressions
10 expressions |
- We may be lost in space, but that doesn't mean we can't make the most of it!
- Let's make the most of the two days we have.
the most を落とさない(× make most of)。make the best of ~ はさらに「悪い状況をなんとかする」寄りです。
- I think I'm gonna hit the hay early.
- I'm going to hit the hay — see you tomorrow.
- Doesn't anything gross you out?
- The smell totally grossed me out.
目的語は間に置く(grossed me out)。That's gross.
- Um, hey! You're burning up!
- She's burning up — get the thermometer.
- I grabbed the cable, said, "Aye, yeah" and saved the day!
- Her backup file saved the day.
the day を落とさない。
- For me, it's a dream come true!
- Seeing them live was a dream come true.
My dream came true. came ではなく come(× a dream came true という名詞句にはならない)。
- Yes, Funi fed them some vegetables, and in return, they gave us a ride.
- He helped me move, and in return I cooked dinner.
in return for ~ と for を足せば「〜と引き換えに」。
- Maybe we should head back to the ship and regroup.
- It's getting dark — let's head back.
head back to + 場所が形で、head out(出かける)、head home(帰る)も同じ作りです。
- No matter what, I'm not allowed to stand out.
- Her handwriting stands out.
stand out from the crowd
- But we're your friends. We've got your back.
- Go ahead and try — we've got your back.
I'll help you. We've got your back. have got = have なのでI've got your back.

🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
That's what you get for + 動詞ing(〜するからそうなるんだ)
That's what you get for leaping before you think.
It's your fault. That's what you get for ~ は「当然の報い」——笑いながら言えるのが違い。for のうしろは動詞ing か名詞(× for to leap)。
- That's what you get for staying up all night.(徹夜するからそうなる)
- That's what you get for not reading the manual.(説明書を読まないからだよ)
PATTERN 2
Let me guess +
Let me guess, the glasses are there to keep your bangs out of your eyes.
Is it ~?
- Let me guess, you forgot your wallet.(当ててみようか、財布を忘れたな)
- Let me guess — he's late again.(どうせまた遅刻でしょう)
PATTERN 3
I don't think I've ever +
I don't think I've ever seen anything this incredible before.
I've never seen ~ が言い切りなのに対し、I don't think I've ever ~ は「たぶん初めて」——断定を避けるのが違い。
- I don't think I've ever been this tired.(こんなに疲れたのは初めてかもしれない)
- I don't think I've ever heard him complain.(彼が愚痴を言うのを聞いたことがない気がする)
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use phrase
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
make the most of ~
- Let's make the most of the two days we have.
- She made the most of a bad situation.
- Make the most of it while you're there.
We only had one afternoon, so we made the most of it.(半日しかなかったので、精いっぱい使いました)のように言えます。the most を落とさないのが決まりです(× make most of it)。make the best of ~ はもう一段悪い状況向けで、「なんとかやり過ごす」寄り——the most は活かす、the best は耐えると覚えると混同しません。
