Episode Summary

Pressed by the crew, Charce admits he transferred in just before camp and tells them about Vixia, the last district ruled by nobles, and about Seira, the commoner friend he lost. The Astra reaches Planet Icriss, is dragged down by carnivorous plants, and is damaged beyond repair. As the crew begins to accept life on the planet, Charce finds a second Astra behind the cliff — with someone asleep inside.

🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

run low on ~

  • We're running low on supplies.
  • We're running low on time.

We don't have ~ が「ない」と言い切るのに対し、run low on ~ はまだあるが心配——途中の状態なのが違い。on のうしろは物でも時間でも(low on gas / on cash / on patience)。

02

as long as ~

  • We should be all right as long as we're inside of the Astra.
  • You can stay as long as you like.

03

be done for

  • If it breaks, we're done for.
  • One more mistake and I'm done for.

(If Mom finds out, I'm done for.)。

04

be capable of ~

  • I doubt it's capable of flight.
  • She's capable of much more than this.

うしろは名詞か動詞ing(capable of flying)。

05

be in rough shape

  • It's in pretty rough shape.
  • My old bike is in rough shape.

(He's in rough shape today.=今日は調子が悪そうだ)。in good shape ならその逆です。

06

on board

  • Nobody else is on board.
  • Everyone on board was safe.

Is everyone on board with this plan?

07

keep ~ from ~ing

  • Thankfully our crust suits keep us from freezing.
  • The fence keeps the dogs from running out.

08

That would make sense.

  • That would make sense.
  • That would make sense if the door was already open.

You're right が同意なのに対し、That would make sense.

09

bust out ~

  • Sounds like it's time to bust out the ol' swim trunks.
  • Let's bust out the good plates.

10

wake ~ up

  • Wake them up.
  • Don't wake him up — he just fell asleep.

代名詞は必ず間に入れます(wake him up/× wake up him)。

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

The ship must have crash landed here just like ours did.

否定は can't have + 過去分詞(〜したはずがない)で、mustn't have は使いません。

PATTERN 2

Wouldn't that mean (that) + 主語 + 動詞?(それって〜ってことじゃない?)

Wouldn't that mean that the sun never sets here?

Does that mean ~?

PATTERN 3

Why +

Why leave a message for help?

Why did they leave ~? Why not + 原形?

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

run low on ~

We're running low on paper — could you order some?(紙が少なくなってきました。 on のうしろは物でも時間でも気持ちでも可(low on cash / on time / on patience)。
