Episode Summary
The cats' suspicions prove right when the forgettable wizard admits he is a council spy who planted himself in everyone's memories, and the fleet of warships he has summoned is wiped out moments later by a single dark-guild warrior. The guild master answers by growing to giant size and punching holes in the invaders' airship, only to discover that the dark guild's leader is the very man who once handed the guild to him.
これは 上級レベル版。第103話は、スパイだったメストの告白、マカロフのひとり言と覚悟、そして先代マスターからの継承が英語の見どころです。masquerade as ~ / There's no talking your way out of ~ / find dirt on ~ といった実際に作中で使われている表現に、ordeal / masquerade / signified / deterred / crackdown のような語彙を合わせました。もう一方のレベルは〈中級〉版でどうぞ。
〈上級〉第103話の評議院のスパイの思惑、マカロフの覚悟、そして悪魔の心臓（グリモアハート）との対峙から、含みのある言い回しを10個。すべて作中で実際に話されている英語です。

表現masquerade as ~〜になりすます
💡 masquerade は「仮面舞踏会」→動詞で「変装する」。as ~ と組んで「〜のふりをする・〜を装う」を表す硬めの語です。
例文
The thief masqueraded as a delivery man.
泥棒は配達員になりすましていた。
There's no talking your way out of that.
訳それは言い逃れできないぞ。
表現There's no talking your way out of ~〜は言い逃れできない
💡 talk one's way out of ~ は「口先で〜を切り抜ける」。There's no ~ing（〜することはできない）と組んで「弁解の余地なし」と追い詰める型です。
例文
You were caught on camera. There's no talking your way out of this.
カメラに映ってたんだ。これは言い逃れできないよ。
I thought if I was going to find any dirt on the Fairy Tail guild, the most logical place to start would be here, its sacred burial ground.
訳フェアリーテイルのボロを探るなら、聖地であるここから始めるのが筋だと思ってね。
表現find dirt on ~〜の弱みを探る
💡 dirt は「泥」→「醜聞・弱み」を表す口語です。dig up dirt on ~（〜のあら探しをする）もよく使われます。
例文
The reporter tried to find dirt on the politician.
記者はその政治家のスキャンダルを探ろうとした。
I infiltrated your ranks to gather intel that'll bring you down once and for all.
訳お前たちを潰す情報を集めるために、内部に潜り込んだのさ。
表現infiltrate ~'s ranks〜の内部に潜り込む
💡 infiltrate は「潜入する」、ranks は「（組織の）構成員」。スパイ・潜入捜査を語るときの定番の硬い表現です。
例文
The spy infiltrated the enemy's ranks.
スパイは敵の組織に潜入した。
But I've caught a much bigger fish now.
訳だが、今はもっと大物を釣り上げたんでね。
表現catch a bigger fishもっと大物を捕まえる
💡 より大きな魚を捕まえるという形で「より重要な標的を手に入れる」を表します。have bigger fish to fry（もっと大事な用がある）とあわせて覚えましょう。
例文
The police let the dealer go to catch a bigger fish.
警察はもっと大物を捕まえるために売人を泳がせた。
To think the ever illusive Grimoire Heart would just fall into my lap out of nowhere.
訳あの神出鬼没のグリモアハートが、いきなり転がり込んでくるとはな。
表現fall into one's lap労せずして転がり込む
💡 ひざの上に落ちてくるという形で「（努力せずに）幸運が舞い込む」を表します。思いがけない好機を語るときの口語です。
例文
The job offer just fell into my lap.
その仕事の話は向こうから転がり込んできた。
If I take them out, my career is as good as made.
訳こいつらを片付ければ、俺の出世は確実だ。
表現be as good as madeできたも同然だ
💡 as good as ~ は「〜も同然」。made と組んで「（成功が）約束されたも同然」を表します。as good as new（新品同様）も同じ型です。
例文
Once she signs the contract, the deal is as good as done.
彼女が契約書にサインすれば、取引は成立したも同然だ。
Once the dark guild makes landfall, it'll be game over for them.
訳闇ギルドが上陸した瞬間、奴らはおしまいだ。

💡 landfall は「（海から）陸に着くこと」で、台風の「上陸」を伝えるニュースの定番表現です。船や軍の上陸にも使います。
例文
The typhoon is expected to make landfall tonight.
台風は今夜上陸する見込みだ。
I've allowed the enemy to tread upon our guild's sacred ground.
訳敵がわがギルドの聖地に足を踏み入れるのを許してしまった。
表現tread upon ~〜に足を踏み入れる
💡 tread は「踏む・歩く」で、upon と組むと「（敬うべき場所を）踏みにじる」という重々しい響きになります。文語的な表現です。
例文
No one is allowed to tread upon this sacred land.
この聖地には誰も足を踏み入れてはならない。
I assume full responsibility.
訳責任はすべて儂が負う。
表現assume full responsibility全責任を負う
💡 assume は「（責任・役職を）引き受ける」。take full responsibility より改まった言い方で、謝罪会見や公式声明の定番です。
例文
As the manager, I assume full responsibility for the error.
責任者として、その誤りの全責任を負います。
〈上級〉誇る・託す・回避する・ひるむ・警告する——大人の会話に効く言い回しを5個。Must-Know とは別枠の実用表現です。

お前の使う魔法は、人の記憶を操るものだと私は見ている。
It's my belief that ~ はI believe ~ の改まった言い方です。推理や見解を確信をもって述べるときに使います。
他にも使える例：
~, and on my watch no less.（〜とは、しかも私の目の前で）I never thought it would happen here and on my watch no less.
まさかここで、しかも儂の代で起こるとはな。
on my watch は「私の監督下で」、no less は「しかも・よりによって」。責任者として悔しさをにじませる型です。
他にも使える例：
Do you think ~ matters to me?（〜なんて私にとって重要だと思う？）Do you think who you work for matters to me?
あなたが誰のもとで働いてるかなんて、あたしには関係ないよ。
Do you think ~ matters to me? は「〜なんてどうでもいい」という反語。相手の肩書きより大事なものがあると伝えるときに使います。

いちばん効いたのは、「全責任を負う」という assume full responsibility でしたね。
