Episode Summary
A council spy who has deserted his post offers to spirit the guild off the island before his superiors can obliterate it, and is told in no uncertain terms that the guild does not back down. In a storm-lashed forest an ice mage glimpses the woman carrying off the black wizard and sees his late teacher's face, while a water mage learns that her beloved tops the enemy's hit list and ends up magically bound to him and to her foe, so that if one dies, all three do.

表現revolve around ~〜を中心に回る
💡 revolve は「回転する」で、「〜を軸にして成り立つ」を表します。The world doesn't revolve around you.（世界はあなた中心じゃない）は定番の皮肉です。
例文
Her whole life revolves around her children.
彼女の生活は子どもたちが中心だ。
We gotta settle the score for what they did to Gramps.
訳じっちゃんにしたことの落とし前をつけなきゃな。
表現settle the score借りを返す
💡 得点を清算するという形で「（恨み・勝負の）決着をつける」を表します。settle a score with ~ の形で相手を示します。
例文
He came back to settle the score with his rival.
彼はライバルとの決着をつけに戻ってきた。
I'm pleased to find you in such high spirits
訳ご機嫌うるわしいようで何よりです
表現in high spirits上機嫌で
💡 spirits は「気分」で、high と組んで「元気いっぱい・上機嫌」を表します。in good spirits もほぼ同じ意味です。
例文
The team was in high spirits after the win.
勝利の後、チームは意気揚々としていた。
Of my elite Seven Kin, three have already been bested.
訳精鋭の七眷属のうち、三人がすでに敗れたか。
表現have been bested打ち負かされた
💡 best は動詞で「〜に勝つ」という改まった・やや古風な用法です。受け身で「打ち負かされる」を表し、スポーツ記事などで見かけます。
例文
The champion has finally been bested.
チャンピオンがついに敗れた。
Makarov's followers will surely try to come aboard, unaware of the horrors that await them

💡 unaware of ~ は「〜に気づかずに」、that await で「待ち受けている」。物語の語りでよく使う不吉な響きの表現です。

The tourists set off, unaware of the storm that awaited them.
観光客たちは、待ち受ける嵐も知らずに出発した。
This is going to be even worse than we feared.
訳これは恐れていた以上に悪い事態になりそうだ。

💡 even + 比較級で「さらに〜」と強め、than we feared で「恐れていたよりも」を表します。悪い知らせを伝えるときの型です。
例文
The damage was even worse than we feared.
被害は恐れていた以上にひどかった。
I guarantee once the council finds out what's going on here, they'll do whatever it takes to neutralize the threat!

表現neutralize the threat脅威を排除する
💡 neutralize は「中和する・無力化する」で、軍事・セキュリティの文脈で「危険を取り除く」を表す硬い表現です。
例文
Security moved quickly to neutralize the threat.
警備隊はすばやく脅威を無力化した。
She's able to channel her emotions into a massive flow of strength.
訳彼女は感情を大きな力の流れに変えられるのだ。
表現channel ~ into …〜を…に注ぎ込む
💡 channel は「水路」→動詞で「（力・感情を）向ける」。マイナスの感情を前向きな力に変えるというポジティブな文脈でよく使います。
例文
He channeled his anger into his work.
彼は怒りを仕事にぶつけた。
Their power doesn't rely solely on magic
訳奴らの力は魔法だけに頼っているわけではない
表現rely solely on ~〜だけに頼る
💡 solely は「もっぱら・〜だけ」で、rely on ~（〜に頼る）を限定します。only より改まった響きで、ビジネスや論説向きです。
例文
Don't rely solely on one source of income.
一つの収入源だけに頼らないように。
That's not unlike our blossoming flower.
訳それは、我らの開きかけの花とよく似ているね。
表現not unlike ~〜とよく似ている
💡 二重否定で「〜と違わない＝よく似ている」を控えめに表します。like より慎重で知的な響きがあり、評論でよく使われます。
例文
The taste is not unlike chicken.
味は鶏肉に似ていなくもない。
〈上級〉衰えを嫌う・見通す・一蹴する・見下す・喜ぶ——大人の会話に効く言い回しを5個。Must-Know とは別枠の実用表現です。
I can't risk my body going soft.
訳体がなまるのはごめんだ。
表現go soft（体が）なまる

第110話の実際のセリフから、書き言葉でも通用する上級構文を3つ。
I can't say ~ has improved.（〜が良くなったとは言えない）I can't say his condition has improved.
容体が良くなったとは言えないわ。
I can't say ~ は「〜とは言えない」と悪い知らせをやわらげて伝える型です。医療や業績報告でよく使われます。
他にも使える例：
Although it would seem that ~, for some reason I don't feel as though …（〜のように見えるが、なぜか…とは感じない）Although it would seem that the master's wounds are quite serious, for some reason I don't feel as though his life is truly in danger.
マスターの傷はかなり重いように見えるが、なぜか命が本当に危ないとは感じない。
Although it would seem that ~ で見かけの判断を示し、for some reason I don't feel as though … で直感的な違和感を述べる慎重な観察の型です。
他にも使える例：
What makes you think we'd ~?（どうして私たちが〜すると思うの？）What makes you think we'd trust anyone who's acting in the interest of the Magic Council?
評議院のために動いてる人を、なんであたしたちが信用すると思うの？
What makes you think ~? は「何があなたにそう思わせるの？」から「そんなわけないでしょ」という反語になります。in the interest of ~ は「〜の利益のために」。
