Episode Summary
The black wizard the old master spent years chasing turns out to have been awake all along, and he is less than impressed by the lengths taken to wake him. On a quieter shore, a time mage confesses the worst of her past to the girl she raised and is, to her surprise, forgiven. Back at camp the promotion trial is called off, a card mage apologises to her partner, and then works up the nerve to tell a famously distracted wizard he is her father.

take ~ as gospel（〜をうのみにする）And you took their fiction as gospel.
おまえは彼らの作り話を真に受けた。
gospel（福音）を「疑いようのない真実」にたとえた言い方。根拠のない情報を信じ込む危うさを指摘するときに使います。
他にも使える例：
enable A to ~（Aが〜できるようにする）This philosophy enabled me to act in horrific ways without remorse.
この考えのせいで、私は悔いもなくひどいことができた。
make it possible for A to ~ の硬い言い方。技術・制度・考え方がもたらす効果を説明する報告書の定番です。
他にも使える例：
rid A of B（AからBを取り除く）But your abysmal intentions have rid me of those shackles for good.
おまえの底なしの悪意が、その枷を永遠に外してくれた。
rid は過去形・過去分詞も rid。get rid of ~（〜を処分する）の元になった形で、文章では主語を立てて使います。
他にも使える例：
Bite the bullet.
腹をくくる。
bite the bullet はいやなことに覚悟を決めて立ち向かう。先延ばしにしてきたことに踏み切るときの決まり文句です。face the music（報いを受け止める）も近い言い方。この回では、父親に名乗り出る決意を固める場面で使われています。
