PATTERN 1

If I were to ~ は仮定法で「仮に〜するとしたら」です。

abide は否定文で「我慢できない」。格調高い非難です。

~ caused … to take on physical form（〜のせいで…が形になった）
Then the transformation magic caused their constant stress to take on physical form.
じゃあ変身魔法のせいで、日ごろのストレスが形になったってこと。
take on ~ は「（性質・形を）帯びる」。cause ~ to … で原因を示します。
