🔥 Must-Know Expressions
10 expressions |
- We were supposed to meet a while ago.
- We're supposed to hand it in by Friday.
You're not supposed to park here.
- could have sworn
- I could have sworn I locked the door.
- Wanna grab a bite to eat?
- Let's grab a bite to eat before the movie.
grab a coffee、grab lunch
04
What'd you do that for?
- What'd you do that for?
- What'd you do that for? I had it under control.
💡 What did you do that for? Why did you do that? 同じ作りの What's that for?(それ何のため?)
- We can't seem to catch a break.
- We finally caught a break with the weather.
- That's more like it.
- Now that's more like it — much better.
07
Who are you trying to kid?
- Who are you trying to kid?
- Who are you trying to kid? You love this job.
Who are you trying to kid? 似た形の You're kidding. Who do you think you're kidding?
08
Hate to break it to you.
- Hate to break it to you
- Hate to break it to you, but the store's closed.
💡 I hate to break it to you.
- you'll only get in the way as you are now
- I don't want to get in the way of your plans.
💡 the way は通り道。
- I'm running out of time.
- We're running out of time, so let's decide.
💡 run out of ~ は〜を切らす。 We're out of time.

🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
be supposed to ~
We were supposed to meet a while ago.
- You're not supposed to eat in here.
- It was supposed to rain, but it didn't.
PATTERN 2
All you gotta do is + 動詞の原形
All you gotta do is shatter the giant lacrima.
All you have to do is ~ のくだけた形。 All you have to do is wait. All I want is ~ も同じ作りの仲間です。
- All you have to do is sign here.
- All I did was ask a question.
PATTERN 3
Whatever +
Whatever you do, just don't let them touch you.
Whenever you go、Wherever you are
- Whatever happens, keep the receipt.
- Whatever you decide, I'll support it.
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use expression
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
be supposed to ~
- We were supposed to meet a while ago.
- You're not supposed to park here.
- It was supposed to be easy.
I'm supposed to be there at nine. I was supposed to be there at nine. You're not supposed to ~ はしてはいけないことになっているで、禁じているのが話し手ではなく規則だと示せるぶん、角が立ちません。
