01
It's about time I catch a break.
- It's about time I catch a break.
- Three interviews and finally an offer — it's about time I catch a break.
- Plus, here's the thing.
- Here's the thing — I already promised Saturday to someone else.
03
We've gotta stay focused.
- We've gotta stay focused.
- One hour left — we've gotta stay focused.
04
We won't make it in time.
- I can't. We won't make it in time.
- If we stop for lunch, we won't make it in time.
05
I'm not ready to throw in the towel.
- I'm not ready to throw in the towel.
- The numbers are bad, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel.
💡 throw in the towel
06
I have to try my hardest.
- I have to try my hardest.
- I have to try my hardest, even if it isn't enough.
- This doesn't mean you're off the hook
- You paid me back, so you're off the hook.
08
I don't wanna let the others down.
- I don't wanna let the others down.
- I signed up first, so I don't wanna let the others down.
- I'm not on my own. Everyone's reaching out to me.
- I was nervous, but I'm not on my own in this.
💡 on one's own は自分ひとりの力で。
10
I'm not so sure I can even do this.
- I'm not so sure I can even do this.
- I'm not so sure I can even do this on my own.
💡 I'm not so sure ~ は自信のなさをやわらかく出す形。

🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
I may be ~, but I will …(〜かもしれないが…する)
I may be slow, but I will get there.
- I may be new, but I will learn fast.
- It may be small, but it will do the job.
PATTERN 2
Think you can ~?(〜できる?:主語の省略)
Think you can do that for him?
Do you を落として Think you can ~? Got a minute? Sound good?
- Think you can finish it by five?
- Think you could give me a hand?
PATTERN 3
You're barely able to ~(かろうじて〜できる程度だ)
But you're barely able to walk right now.
- You're barely able to keep your eyes open.
- She was barely able to finish the last mile.
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use expression
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
We've gotta stay focused.
- We've gotta stay focused.
- One hour left — we've gotta stay focused.
- Let's not open that thread now; we've gotta stay focused.
Concentrate. You've gotta stay focused. We need to stay focused.

We've gotta stay focused. / Here's the thing. / We won't make it in time. / I'm not on my own.
I may be ~, but I will …(〜かもしれないが…
