Episode Summary
The Fairy Hunter makes it painfully clear to a captured celestial-spirit mage that she is nothing like the Erza she knows, and only a white cat's bluff, posing as the Exceed queen's daughter, gets the girl out of the tower. The king then declares all-out war on the flying cats his people once revered, the two dragon slayers have their magic drained, and the tomcat and his friends are cornered, until two familiar wizards from home blast their way in.

💡 合理的な疑いを越えてという法廷用語で、「十分な証拠で確かに」を表します。日常でも「間違いなく証明された」と大げさに強調するときに使われます。

💡 regard は「点・観点」で、「その点に関して」を表す改まった言い方です。in that way より論点を限定する響きがあり、議論や報告でよく使います。

💡 最小限に言うとという形で「実際はもっとひどい（すごい）」ことをほのめかす表現です。皮肉や婉曲によく使い、文末に添えるのが定番です。

訳身のほどをわきまえなさい。
表現know one's place身のほどをわきまえる
💡 自分の位置を知るという形で「立場をわきまえる」を表します。上の立場から叱るときに使う高圧的な言い方で、物語では支配者の決まり文句です。
例文

昔は、使用人は身分をわきまえることが求められた。
Regardless, we need to focus on the task at hand, which is tracking down Wendy and Natsu.

表現the task at hand目の前の課題
💡 手元にある仕事という形で「今取り組むべきこと」を表します。focus on と組むのが定番で、脱線した話を戻すときに便利な改まった言い方です。

携帯をしまって、目の前の作業に集中しなさい。
This is the last line of defense in our homeland security arsenal.
訳これは祖国防衛の切り札、最後の砦だ。
表現the last line of defense最後の砦
💡 最後の防衛線という軍事表現で、「これが破られたら終わり」という最終手段を表します。比喩的にセキュリティや医療の話でもよく使われます。
例文
Teachers are often the last line of defense for struggling students.
教師はしばしば、苦しむ生徒の最後のよりどころだ。
How dare you take up arms against the Exceeds, you lowly humans?

表現take up arms against ~〜に対して武器を取る
💡 arms は「武器」で、「武器を手に取る」という形で「武力で立ち向かう」を表します。fight より歴史や政治の文脈にふさわしい硬い言い方です。

村人たちは侵略者に対して立ち上がった。
It's time to grab what has been kept at arm's length for all these years.
訳長年遠ざけられてきたものを、今こそ手に入れるときだ。
表現keep ~ at arm's length〜を遠ざけておく
💡 腕の長さだけ離してという形で「親しくならないよう距離を置く」を表します。avoid と違い、「関わりはあるが近づけない」という微妙な距離感を言える表現です。

彼女は同僚と一定の距離を置いている。
Our kingdom will have enough to last for generations to come.

💡 来たるべき世代のためにという形で「長い将来にわたって」を表します。forever より具体的で重みがあり、環境や遺産を語る演説でよく使われます。

表現have no stake in ~〜に利害関係がない
💡 stake は「賭け金・利害」で、「その件に何も賭けていない」という形で「損得の関わりがない」を表します。none of my business よりビジネスや政治向きの言い方です。
例文
As an outsider, I have no stake in their argument.
部外者なので、彼らの言い争いには利害がない。
〈上級〉詫びる・達観する・見抜く・見下す・見極める——緊迫した場面で効く言い回しを5個。Must-Know とは別枠の実用表現です。

第85話の実際のセリフから、書き言葉でも通用する上級構文を3つ。
Although you may be ~, you don't have the power to …（〜ではあっても、…する権限はない）Although you may be an Exceed, you don't have the power to terminate a directive handed down by the Queen herself.
エクシードであっても、女王陛下ご自身が下された命令を取り消す権限はございません。
Although you may be ~ で相手の立場を認めつつ、you don't have the power to … で権限の限界を示す、丁重な拒否の型です。
他にも使える例：
I'm not entirely sure, but I think it would be wise to ~（確信はないが、〜するのが賢明だと思う）I'm not entirely sure, but I think it would be wise to use the confusion to our advantage.
確かではないけれど、この混乱を利用するのが賢明だと思うわ。
I'm not entirely sure, but で断定を避け、it would be wise to ~ で「〜するのが得策」と控えめに提案する型です。
他にも使える例：
As of this moment, ~ is over.（今この瞬間をもって〜は終わりだ）As of this moment, the era of begging and subservience is over.
今この時をもって、物乞いと服従の時代は終わりだ。
As of ~ は「〜の時点で・〜をもって」。As of this moment で「今この瞬間から」と宣言の区切りを示す、演説調の型です。
