💡 fortune は「財産・大金」。cost a fortune で「ものすごく高くつく」という大げさな言い方です。

表現tell ~ apart〜を見分ける

💡 tell A apart は「Aを見分ける」。tell には「区別する」の意味があり、can't と一緒によく使います。

表現figure ~ out on your own自分で解決する

💡 figure out は「考えてわかる・解決する」。on your own(自分ひとりで)と組んで自力でのニュアンスになります。

表現You have a point.一理あるね

💡 have a point は「もっともな点がある」。相手の意見を部分的に認めるときの便利なあいづちです。

例文

You have a point. Let's leave earlier.

訳その通り。まったく同感。

表現I couldn't agree with you more.大賛成

💡 couldn't + 比較級で「これ以上〜できない」=最大級。「まったく同感」を強く伝える定番です。

例文

訳別に。ただ欲しくないだけ。

表現No reason.別に理由はない

💡 No reason. は「理由はないよ」。理由を言いたくないときのはぐらかしとしてもよく使われます。

💡 every now and then は「ときどき・たまに」。sometimes より口語的で、文末に置くのが自然です。

表現ask ~ out〜をデートに誘う

💡 ask 人 out は「人をデートに誘う」。turn 人 down(断る)とセットで覚えると便利です。

第3話の実際のセリフから、中級で押さえたい文法を3つ。

PATTERN 1

You ~ way too much …(あなたは〜しすぎ)

You read way too much manga.

way too much はtoo much を強めた形。相手の習慣にツッコむときのくだけた型です。

他にも使える例:

I wish someone would ~(誰か〜してくれないかな)

I wish someone would turn on the air conditioning.

I wish someone would ~ は「誰か〜してくれたらいいのに」と遠回しに頼む型。独り言っぽいお願いに使えます。

I should have known you'd ~(あなたなら〜すると思ってた)

I should have known you'd say something like that.

should have + 過去分詞で「〜しておくべきだった」。I should have known で「予想できたのに」というあきれを表します。
