🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
How about we + 動詞の原形 ~?(〜しない?)
Since we're done with exams, how about we go out and have some fun?
Let's ~ が言い切りの提案なのに対し、How about we ~? How about のうしろに文をそのまま置けるのが要点で(how about we go)、How about + 動詞ing でも同じ意味(How about going out?)。× How about to go だけは作れません。
- How about we split the bill?(割り勘にしませんか)
- How about we start with the numbers?(まず数字から始めませんか)
PATTERN 2
You tend to burn yourself out if you concentrate too hard on something.
- I tend to forget names.(名前を忘れがちです)
- Prices tend to rise in spring.(春は値上がりしがちです)
PATTERN 3
Me and my dad used to sing it all the time when I was a kid.
うしろは動詞の原形(× used to singing)——be used to ~ing(〜に慣れている)とはまったく別物。否定は didn't use to(d が落ちます)。
- I used to live near here.(昔はこの近くに住んでいました)
- There used to be a bakery on that corner.(あの角にはパン屋がありました)
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use phrase
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
call it a day
- Let's call it a day and pick this up tomorrow.
- It's late — let's call it a day.
- We called it a day around six.
We've done enough — let's call it a day.(十分やりました。 it は差し替えません(× call the work a day)——丸ごと決まった形です。call it a night
