Episode Summary
The party finally reach Millishion, capital of the Holy Country of Millis. While Eris and Ruijerd go goblin hunting, Rudeus stumbles on what looks like a kidnapping, bursts in to help and comes face to face with his father, Paul. Their long-awaited reunion turns bitter when Paul accuses him of treating the journey like a holiday, and Rudeus learns how many people are still missing.

could have + 過去分詞 で実際にはしなかった可能性。相手を責めるときにも自分を悔やむときにも使えます。

jab はジャブ・小突き。遠回しに攻撃する言葉を表します。

looking back の改まった言い方。当時と今の評価の違いを示すときに便利です。

燃える石炭の上を引きずる、という昔の罰から、rake ~ over the coals で「〜を厳しく責め立てる」。ミスを激しく叱られるときに使います。この回では、再会した父に責められた主人公が、今さら言われても、と心の中で反発する場面で使われています。
