PATTERN 1
I didn't expect ~ to be so ~（〜がこんなに〜だとは思わなかった）
I didn't expect him to be so huge
あんなにでかいとは思わなかった
expect ~ to be ~ で予想とのずれを言います。
他にも使える例：
