🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

put food on the table

  • If you wanna put food on the table, you've gotta be willing to step on top of other heroes.
  • He took the second job to put food on the table.

put bread on the table

02

keep ~ at bay

  • He can use his Quirk to keep enemies at bay.
  • A short walk keeps the afternoon slump at bay.

03

right off the bat

  • They wouldn't cut that many of us right off the bat, would they?
  • She asked about salary right off the bat.

04

play the long game

  • If they're playing the long game here, they might not even bother coming after my headband.
  • They're playing the long game with this product.

play the short game

05

go head-to-head

  • Twelve cavalry teams are preparing to go head-to-head!
  • The two stores go head-to-head every December.

06

have it made

  • I thought we had it made. Guess I was wrong.
  • With that contract signed, they have it made.

have got it made とも言います。

07

be overrun with ~

  • We both know this country's overrun with agencies right now.
  • The park is overrun with tourists in spring.

08

abide by ~

  • These are the rules that you'll abide by.
  • All members abide by the same code.

(I can't abide rudeness.)。

09

a blind spot

  • Please, continue to watch over our blind spots.
  • Pricing is a blind spot for our team.

have a blind spot for ~ だと「〜には目が曇る」。

10

be full of oneself

  • They're so full of themselves.
  • He's been full of himself since the promotion.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

Such is the fate of the pursued.

本来 The fate of the pursued is such.

PATTERN 2

Assuming they'd keep at least 40 contestants for the next event, all we had to do was make sure we stayed within that group.

Assuming ~, then …

PATTERN 3

Not that ~(〜というわけでもないが)

I'm only in first place right now because of some good luck. Not that that matters, I guess.

(Not that I'm complaining./文句ってわけじゃないけど)。

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use expression

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

right off the bat

Right off the bat, I have two questions.

この 上級版 では、put food on the table / keep ~ at bay / play the long game / have it made を中心に据えました。
