🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

wait and see

  • Maybe we should wait and see how the teams turn out before we start strategizing.
  • Let's wait and see what the weather does.

02

step it up

  • So, let's step it up and show those jerks what we can do.
  • We need to step it up in the second half.

03

get away from ~

  • Sorry! But at least we got away from them!
  • We got away from the crowd by taking the side street.

04

join up with ~

  • I'm not surprised people are trying to join up with him.
  • We'll join up with the others at the station.

05

move on to ~

  • Forty-two of you qualified to move on to the next round.
  • Let's move on to the next item.

move on(気持ちを切り替える・前を向く)だけだと、別れ話の文脈で出ます。

06

work with ~

  • Looks like pretty much everyone is on a team already. That's fine. We can work with that.
  • It's a small budget, but we can work with it.

We can work with that. I can't work with this.

07

get along well

  • Huh. They sure get along well.
  • The new hires get along well.

get along with 人 で相手を続けます。How are you getting along?

08

fill a spot

  • I know exactly what power our team is missing, and the person who can fill that spot is…
  • We're still trying to fill that spot on the team.

09

make up a plan

  • If you lose your headband at the beginning, you have more time to make up a plan.
  • Give me an hour to make up a plan.

come up with a plan make up for ~(埋め合わせる)は別物です。

10

be stuck

  • What, is something wrong? — Yeah, I'm stuck!
  • I'm stuck on question three.

be stuck in traffic(渋滞にはまる)、be stuck with ~(押しつけられる)も覚えておくと出番があります。

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

I'm afraid I must + 動詞の原形(申し訳ないが〜しなければ)

I'm afraid I must refuse your offer.

I'm afraid I can't ~(〜はできかねます)はメールでも会話でも最頻出の形。

PATTERN 2

It's hard being at the top.

It's hard to be at the top. It's hard being at the top.

PATTERN 3

Unlike Todoroki or Kacchan, I didn't use my Quirk in the first round.

(He is unlike his brother.)、こちらは be動詞と組みます。

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use expression

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

I got you covered.

I've got you covered. 短く I got you.

この 中級版 では、wait and see / step it up / join up with ~ / move on to ~ を中心に据えました。
