Episode Summary
In the second half of the cavalry battle Monoma copies Bakugo's own Quirk against him and pays for it, while Tokoyami's shadow, timid in daylight, keeps Izuku's team clear of Todoroki's ice. With under a minute left, Iida unleashes a burst of speed he had kept from everyone and takes the ten million points. Izuku snatches back a headband that turns out to be the wrong one, but a band Tokoyami quietly pocketed is enough to scrape the team into fourth.

🔥 Must-Know Expressions
10 expressions |
01
stop ~ cold in one's tracks
- Will you look at that! He's stopped all those teams cold in their tracks!
- One question stopped him cold in his tracks.
stop dead in one's tracks
- Todoroki has cornered the ten-million-point team and is poised to seize the ultimate prize!
- The company is poised to enter the Asian market.
- This entire game was just turned completely on its head!
- One study turned the theory on its head.
turn ~ upside down が混乱を指すのに対し、on its head は「常識・優劣が逆になる」ときに使います。
- Calm down, Bakugo. You've gotta keep a level head or we'll never get our points back!
- She kept a level head through the whole audit.
- We ended in first place, but it was too close for comfort.
- The car passed too close for comfort.
a little too close for comfort
- Todoroki, why do you have it out for me?
- I don't know why he has it out for our team.
have it out with
- Knowing you've been bested is an important part of being a hero.
- He was bested in the final round.
- The beast is easy to handle in the sunlight. That's at the cost of its attack power, though.
- They cut the price at the cost of quality.
at the expense of ~ も同義で、こちらのほうがやや硬い。
- You're always trying to one-up each other.
- The two teams keep one-upping each other.
- Midoriya, you're the one who created the opening for me.
- Their mistake created an opening for us.
see an opening(好機を見つける)も一緒に覚えておくと便利です。

🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
It's + 形容詞 + of + 人(人の性質を評する of)
It's not very heroic of me.
It's hard for me to say.(私にとって難しい=難易度の話)に対し、It's kind of you to say.(そう言うとは優しい=人柄の話)。 That's very kind of you.
- That's very kind of you.(ご親切にどうも)
- It was silly of me to ask.(聞いた私がばかだった)
PATTERN 2
What was it (that) 主語 + 動詞?(強調の疑問文)
What was it you said in your little speech before the games?
強調構文 It is ~ that … What was it that you said? ただ What did you say? Who was it that ~? / Where was it that ~?
- What was it you wanted?(何が欲しかったんだっけ)
- Who was it that called?(電話してきたのは誰だった?)
PATTERN 3
With time almost up, Team Todoroki is in first place with four headbands.
Time is almost up, and … 続けられるのは形容詞・副詞・分詞・前置詞句(with the door open / with his eyes closed)。
- With the deadline near, we worked late.(締切が近く、遅くまで働いた)
- He slept with the light on.(明かりをつけたまま眠った)
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use expression
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
too close for comfort
- That was too close for comfort.
- We won, but it was too close for comfort.
- The deadline came a little too close for comfort.
a little too close for comfort
