Episode Summary

After the festival the class are recognised on the street, and Aizawa follows the draft results, in which Izuku receives none, with a lesson in choosing hero names, judged one by one by Midnight. Froppy and Red Riot sail through, Alien Queen and King Explosion Murder do not, and Iida, whose brother has asked him to take the name Ingenium, writes down only his own. Izuku claims the insult he grew up with, and All Might nervously passes on an offer from his old teacher.

🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

go for ~

  • So, guys, have you decided what pro agency you wanna go for?
  • I'll go for the cheaper one.

選択にも挑戦にも使えて、Go for it!

02

take ~ on

  • There are around 40 agencies who've agreed to take on interns from your class.
  • She took on two new clients this month.

take on ~ には「〜に立ち向かう」という別の意味もあり、take on the champion なら「王者に挑む」。

03

keep on ~ing

  • I have to keep on improving.
  • He kept on asking until someone answered.

04

spread out

  • In past years, it's been more spread out.
  • The group spread out across the field.

05

split ~ into groups

  • Looking up their specialties and splitting them into groups.
  • Let's split the class into groups of four.

divide ~ into …

06

look forward to ~

  • I'm really looking forward to this week.
  • I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

07

hold one's breath

  • Hold your breath!
  • Everyone held their breath until the results came up.

Don't hold your breath.

08

suit ~

  • That really suits you!
  • The later slot suits me better.

Does Friday suit you?

09

mind one's manners

  • Make sure you mind your manners with the other heroes.
  • Mind your manners at the table.

Mind your head.(頭上注意)/Mind the gap.(すき間に注意)と同じ使い方です。Do you mind ~?(〜してもいい?)

10

get to it

  • Now get to it.
  • We've talked enough — let's get to it.

get to it(取りかかる)と get around to it(やっと手をつける)はaround があるかないかで、早さがまるで逆になります。

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

Now that ~(もう〜だから)

Now that everyone's decided on their hero names, we can go back to your internships.

(Now you're here, let's start.)。

PATTERN 2

Imagine that you were ~(自分が〜だとしたら)

Imagine that you were Thirteen. You'd want a place that focuses on rescuing people.

Imagine you were in her position.

PATTERN 3

All it took was ~(〜だけで足りた/〜ひとつで変わった)

All it took was one sports festival and suddenly we're like celebrities.

All it takes is ~(必要なのは〜だけだ)が現在形で、過去形にすると「たったそれだけで、こうなった」という驚きが出ます。

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use expression

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

It'll all work out.

It'll work out.

この 中級版 では、go for ~ / take ~ on / look forward to ~ / keep on ~ing を中心に据えました。
