Episode Summary

Izuku abandons the stalled train and races across the rooftops of a burning Hosu, where Endeavor takes over from Gran Torino against a Nomu. Guessing that Iida has gone after the Hero Killer, Izuku searches the quiet back streets and arrives just in time, only to be paralysed by Stain's Quirk alongside Iida and a pro. Todoroki, having decoded a text that contained nothing but a location, turns up with fire and ice, and the two agree to hold out until the pros arrive.

remain calm / stand down / take a while to ~ といった実際に作中で使われている表現に、conductor / feat / countless / distraction / predict のような語彙を合わせました。

🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

remain calm

  • Everyone, please! Remain calm!
  • Please remain calm and follow the staff.

Stay calm.

02

return to one's seat

  • Return to your seats!
  • Please return to your seat before takeoff.

03

run off

  • Why'd he run off by himself?
  • He ran off before I could ask.

(I have to run off to a meeting.)。

04

get past ~

  • Gotta get past the sword.
  • We need to get past the first round.

物理的な障害にも、段階や気持ちにも使えます——I can't get past the first chapter.

05

take a while to ~

  • Your message took me a while to figure out.
  • It takes a while to load the first time.

take ~ a while to … in a while(しばらくぶり)とは別の使い方です。

06

show up

  • We know where he'll show up next.
  • Only half the group showed up.

show up for ~ / show up at ~ と続けて場所や予定を足せます。

07

move forward

  • She told me to move forward.
  • Let's move forward with the first option.

08

be in trouble

  • So I figured you were in trouble and asking for help.
  • Call me if you're in trouble.

be in trouble は状態、get in trouble は変化——動詞ひとつで言い分けられます。

09

stand down

  • Stand down. Run away.
  • The team was told to stand down.

10

keep ~ calm

  • Keep them calm. I'm going after him!
  • Keep him calm until the nurse comes.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

Why ~ in the first place?(そもそもなぜ〜なのか)

Why'd you wanna become a hero in the first place?

in the first place Why did we agree to this in the first place?

PATTERN 2

I should've made sure that a pro came with me.

PATTERN 3

haven't + 過去分詞 + in years(何年も〜していない)

I haven't fought this earnestly in years.

否定文で使うのが決まりで、肯定文では for years(I've lived here for years.)になります。in ages / in a long time も同じ働き。

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use expression

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

Sound like a plan?

Does that sound like a plan?

この 中級版 では、remain calm / keep ~ calm / run off / take a while to ~ を中心に据えました。
