Episode Summary

While Izuku recovers, the rest of the class get their week at work: Best Jeanist explains what patrols are really for as Bakugo terrifies two schoolboys, Gunhead drills Uraraka in disarming a knife, and Jiro leads hostages to safety. At sea, Tsuyu scrubs decks until an urgent call sends her ship after smugglers, and when a villain takes Sirius hostage she refuses to lie over the radio, buying just enough time for the captain. Izuku, meanwhile, takes his leave of Gran Torino.

lead ~ to safety / keep one's guard up / get tired of ~ といった実際に作中で使われている表現に、cargo / urgent / inspect / fierce / aboard のような語彙を合わせました。

🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

keep one's guard up

  • This may just be a patrol, but keep your guard up.
  • Keep your guard up until the contract is signed.

let one's guard down(気を緩める)と正反対——up と down で対になっているので、二つ並べて覚えられます。

02

lead ~ to safety

  • Earphone Jack, you lead the hostages to safety.
  • Staff will lead everyone to safety.

03

escort ~

  • I'll escort you. Please, come with me!
  • A guard escorted us to the gate.

accompany(同行する)より保護の色が強い語です。

04

clean up

  • It was a lot of patrols and cleaning up.
  • Let's clean up before they arrive.

05

do laundry

  • I even had to do laundry.
  • I do laundry on Sundays.

do the dishes(皿を洗う)と同じ do の使い方です。

06

eat ~ up

  • When I make that sweet face for kids, they eat it up!
  • The audience ate it up.

07

sail out

  • Looks like we're sailing out.
  • We sail out at dawn.

sail through ~ になると「楽々と切り抜ける」(sail through the exam)と、比喩に変わります。

08

pretend ~

  • Sometimes a hero has to pretend he's been caught.
  • Don't pretend you didn't see it.

💡 後ろは that 節でも to 不定詞でもかまいません(pretend to be asleep)。

09

get ~ done

  • Shouldn't a frog be jumping to get her work done?
  • Let's get this done before lunch.

10

get tired of ~

  • So you got tired of it?
  • I never get tired of this view.

💡 be tired of ~ が状態なら、get tired of ~ は「飽きてくる」という変化。

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

Shouldn't ~ be …ing?(〜

Shouldn't a frog be jumping to get her work done?

Do your work.

PATTERN 2

I always figured ~ would be …(〜は…

I always figured being a hero would be super glamorous.

PATTERN 3

It'll be better if ~(〜したほうがいい)

It'll be better if you find it out for yourself.

It'd be better if ~ と would にすると、さらに控えめになり、遠回しな注意にも使えます。

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use expression

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

get ~ done
