Episode Summary

Back from their internships, the class trades stories, and All Might sets a rescue race through a maze of factories in which Izuku, to general astonishment, bounds across the rooftops without breaking a single bone — then loses his footing at the end and hands Sero the win. After class, All Might finally tells him where One For All came from: a villain who stole Quirks, a sickly younger brother who resisted him, and an enemy who is somehow still alive.

keep ~ to a bare minimum / one's strong suit / cross one's mind

🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

provide logistical support

  • All I did was help people evacuate and provide logistical support.
  • Two of us stayed behind to provide logistical support.

02

keep ~ to a bare minimum

  • But try to keep the property damage to a bare minimum, please.
  • We kept the changes to a bare minimum.

keep ~ to a minimum

03

sit this one out

  • He should sit this out.
  • I'll sit this one out and watch.

04

one's strong suit

  • Moving around quickly isn't really one of his strong suits.
  • Small talk has never been my strong suit.

05

be built with ~ in mind

  • It's like this course was built with me in mind.
  • The app was built with beginners in mind.

💡 with ~ in mind は「〜を念頭に置いて」。 design / write / plan とも組み合わせられ、written with new hires in mind のように応用できます。

06

compensate by ~ing

  • You could also compensate by improving other skills.
  • He compensates by preparing more than anyone.

compensate for ~ と for を足せば「〜を補う」と対象を言え、by ~ing は手段——for と by を混ぜないのが要点。

07

bear the burden of ~

  • There were many poor souls who couldn't bear the burden of the Quirks they were given.
  • She bore the burden of the whole project alone.

08

entrust ~ to …

に託す

  • The younger brother decided to entrust this new Quirk to future generations.
  • The archive was entrusted to a small team.

entrust A to B と entrust B with A——語順で前置詞が変わるので、どちらかを型で覚えてしまうのが安全です。

09

be hotly debated

  • Laws and human rights were hotly debated.
  • The rule change is still hotly debated.

hotly contested(激戦の)/hotly anticipated(待望の)も同じ hotly。

10

cross one's mind

  • I see it didn't cross your mind.
  • It never crossed my mind that she'd say no.

The thought crossed my mind.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

couldn't have been more ~(これ以上〜ではありえなかった)

They couldn't have been more different.

couldn't be more ~ なら現在(I couldn't be happier.=この上なくうれしい)。

PATTERN 2

I've always found it ironic that ~(〜なのは皮肉だといつも思う)

I've always found it ironic that justice so often spawns from evil.

PATTERN 3

can only ~ if …(…

One For All can only be given to another person if you intend to pass it along.

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use expression

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

entrust ~ to …

この 上級版 では、provide logistical support / keep ~ to a bare minimum / bear the burden of ~ / entrust ~ to …
