Episode Summary

Tsuyu swallows the handcuffs so that Dark Shadow can deliver them to Ectoplasm, and Iida launches Ojiro through the gate before Power Loader can bury them both. Yaoyorozu, quietly deferring to Todoroki since the sports festival, freezes until he admits he voted for her as class rep; her plan of mannequins, a catapult and a shape-memory alloy then wraps up Aizawa, who may well have let it. Uraraka, meanwhile, is caught in Thirteen's black hole.

🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

steel one's nerves

  • Steel your nerves and show me your resolve.
  • She steeled her nerves and walked in.

02

pull ~ off

  • An escape only the two of them could pull off!
  • I didn't think we'd pull it off.

03

provide emotional support

  • Her level-headedness and ability to provide emotional support are the key to them passing.
  • Someone has to provide emotional support during a move like this.

04

be better suited to ~

  • I think our best choice right now is to go and find a hero who is better suited to take him on.
  • She's better suited to this role than I am.

be suited for ~ も使われますが、to のほうがやや優勢です。

05

do away with ~

  • What I want to see is a student who can do away with an adversary.
  • They did away with the paper forms last year.

06

commend ~

  • That was wonderfully clever. I must commend you both.
  • The team was commended for its response.

recommend(勧める)とは別の語ですが、同じ語根から来ています。

07

prioritize ~

  • I would suggest that you prioritize evasion.
  • Let's prioritize the two blocking issues.

💡 priority(優先順位)の動詞形。

08

talk ~ over with …

  • Maybe you should have actually talked this over with her.
  • Talk it over with your team first.

09

trust in one's instincts

  • She's lost her ability to trust in her own instincts.
  • At some point you have to trust in your instincts.

10

exploit ~

  • So, we're going to exploit that.
  • The design exploits a quirk of the format.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

I would suggest that you ~(〜されてはいかがか)

I would suggest that you prioritize evasion.

PATTERN 2

as ~ as he may be(どれほど〜であっても)

She can provide support to her ally, as powerful as he may be.

譲歩を表す倒置の形で、as ~ as + 主語 + may be という組み立て。however powerful he may be と言い換えられます。

PATTERN 3

Your plan places the burden on ~(その計画は〜に負担を寄せている)

Your plan places most of the burden on yourself.

place emphasis on ~(〜を重視する)、place a limit on ~(〜に制限を設ける)など、抽象的な名詞と広く組めます。

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use expression

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

pull ~ off

代名詞は必ず間に挟む(pull it off)のが決まりで、pull off it とは言いません。

この 上級版 では、steel one's nerves / pull ~ off / talk ~ over with …
