Episode Summary

Izuku wants to run, Bakugo refuses to be told anything, and All Might, handicap weights and all, turns genuinely frightening and takes them apart one at a time. Only when Izuku refuses to let Bakugo settle for losing do they cobble together a plan; in the end Izuku punches All Might off his rival rather than escape alone, and carries him through the gate unconscious. Elsewhere, Toga and Dabi apply to join the League of Villains.

give in / fight ~ head on / run and hide

🔥 Must-Know Expressions 10 expressions |

01

give in

  • You're you because you never give in.
  • He argued for an hour, then gave in.

give in to ~ と to を足せば、何に屈したかを言えます。

02

feel better

  • I think I feel better.
  • Take a day off — you'll feel better.

03

head toward ~

  • If I head toward the gate, then All Might will have to stop me.
  • We headed toward the station without a word.

04

run and hide

  • No matter where you try to run and hide, there's no way you'll avoid fighting him.
  • You can't run and hide from this one.

I'm not going to run and hide.。

05

be okay with ~

  • You can't say you're okay with losing.
  • Are you okay with Friday instead?

06

pay for ~

  • You'll pay for this tomorrow!
  • We paid for that shortcut later.

07

wake up

  • Bakugo probably won't wake up for a while.
  • He woke up before the alarm.

(Wake me up at six.)。

08

be in a rush to ~

  • I wonder why he's in such a rush to win this.
  • Why are you in such a rush to sell?

such a rush と such を足せば、度合いを強められます。be in a hurry

09

with everything one's got

  • You'd better come at me with everything you've got.
  • She went at it with everything she'd got.

give it everything you've got(全力を出す)が定番の組み合わせ。主語に合わせて you've / he's / I've と変えて使います。

10

fight ~ head on

  • It'd be insane to fight him head on!
  • They decided to fight the problem head on.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

No matter how much ~, …(どれだけ〜でも)

No matter how much trouble he's in, he's always the winner.

much のところは形容詞や副詞でも可(no matter how hard ~)。whatever / wherever と同じ譲歩の仲間で、no matter where you go のように広く使えます。

PATTERN 2

It'd be + 形容詞 + to ~(〜するのは…

It'd be impossible to beat him in a fight.

It is ~ to do

PATTERN 3

Haven't you been ~ing?(ずっと〜していたのでは?)

Haven't you been listening to me?

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use expression

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

give in

give in to ~ と to を足せば、何に屈したかまで言えます——Don't give in to pressure.

この 中級版 では、give in / wake up / head toward ~ / We're almost there.

そして折れかけた相手に返す You never give in.
