Episode Summary

The practical exam is ten minutes of mock battle in a fake city, and Izuku spends most of it at zero points. When the zero-point giant appears and Ochaco is trapped beneath it, he jumps — and breaks both legs and an arm on the landing. He is certain he has failed. Then the letter arrives, and All Might explains what the judges were really scoring.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

Well, there's still plenty of time before it's over. The real test has yet to come.

to のうしろは動詞の原形で、yet は have と to の間(× have to yet come)。

PATTERN 2

It's as though + 節(まるで〜であるかのようだ)

It's as though his body isn't used to handling his own power at all.

He looks tired. as though と as if はほぼ同じで、as though のほうがやや硬い。ありえないことなら動詞を過去形にします(as though he were here)。

PATTERN 3

How could a hero course reject someone who is committed to saving others?

They shouldn't reject him. How could you?

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

don't hold a candle to ~

Store-bought sauce doesn't hold a candle to hers.(市販のソースなんて、彼女のには遠く及ばない)のように使えます。否定でしか使わないのが決まりです(× It holds a candle to ~)。
