Episode Summary
The Nerima investigation is quietly withdrawn, but nobody involved is satisfied — the missing girl turns out to be the daughter of a man Dobu's boss used to know. Dobu climbs into Odokawa's cab wanting the dash cam data kept quiet, and when threats fail he goes looking for the one thing that does move a man with nothing to lose: a short list of friends. Elsewhere, Kakihana is certain the woman he has never met is real.
get along great / give up on ~ / turn around / be head over heels
🔥 Must-Know Expressions
10 expressions |
- So far we've only exchanged messages back and forth, but we get along great.
- We got along great from day one.
great / well / fine と程度を替えられ、get along with ~ で相手を言えます。
- As I've gotten older, I'd started to give up on it entirely.
- Don't give up on it just yet.
give up ~ が「やめる」(give up smoking)なのに対し、give up on ~ は「見込みがないと見切る」——on の有無で意味が変わります。 Don't give up on me.
- Things are finally starting to turn around, though.
- Sales turned around in the spring.
- Before you know it, you're head over heels.
- He's head over heels for her.
for ~ / in love with ~ を足して相手を言い、heels は必ず複数形です。
- I was glued to my monitor at work.
- The kids were glued to the screen all afternoon.
- Good to see you. Sorry to keep you waiting.
- Sorry to keep you waiting — the train was late.
Sorry to keep you waiting.
- You poor thing. You're soaking wet.
- My shoes are soaking wet.
- I'm not saying this out of jealousy.
- She said it out of jealousy, not malice.
out of curiosity / out of habit / out of kindness
- I understood more or less from the nuance.
- The report is more or less finished.
(That's it, more or less.)、断定を避けたいときに便利です。
- I won't run the meter though.
- He forgot to run the meter.
The meter's running.

🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
If someone called you a makeshift taxi driver, would it upset you?
主節は would / could / might + 動詞の原形。 (If someone calls you that, ~)に替わります。
- If I had more time, I'd redo it.(時間があれば、やり直すのに)
- If you were me, what would you do?(あなたが私だったらどうする?)
PATTERN 2
I'm astonished (that) ~(〜には驚いた)
And I'm astonished you got upset twice for the same reason.
- I'm astonished he agreed.(彼が同意したことに驚いた)
- I'm astonished at how fast it sold.(売れる速さに驚いています)
PATTERN 3
Would it bother you to + 動詞の原形?(〜するのは嫌ですか?)
I'll ask you. Would it bother you to occasionally meet and chat like this?
Do you want to ~? Would it bother you to ~? 答えるときは No が「かまいません」——Would you mind ~?
- Would it bother you to switch seats?(席を替わっていただけますか?)
- Would it bother you to wait ten minutes?(10
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use phrase
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
be head over heels
- He's head over heels for her.
- They fell head over heels in love.
- I was head over heels at that age.
相手は for ~ か in love with ~ で足せます(head over heels for her)。
