Episode Summary
A day of asking for help and being refused three times. A duchess wants to know what she stands to gain and finds nothing on the table. A princess offers a deal on terms designed to humiliate. And a merchant queen sits him down over lunch, lets him talk, and walks away with everything he knew — then explains, kindly, exactly which part of him made that so easy. By nightfall the only person willing to move is a travelling oil salesman who cannot sell his stock.

- You need to show me what I stand to gain by getting involved.
- What do we stand to gain from this deal?
- If you incur a debt to me through this deal.
- He didn't want to incur a debt to anyone.
- Calls into question your ability to rule the nation.
- The report called his judgment into question.
04
have no weight whatsoever
- Has no weight whatsoever in my negotiation with you.
- That argument has no weight whatsoever.
- That what you say comes to pass.
- Everything she predicted came to pass.

- Then I can draw no other conclusion.

- Stop beating around the bush and tell me.

🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
Say the Witch's Cult does make a move.
- Say it rains — what then?(仮に雨だとして、どうする)
- Say she agrees. Who pays for it?(彼女が承知したとして、費用は誰が)
PATTERN 2
there's nothing ~ that has no …(〜ないものなど何もない)
There's nothing in this world that has no meaning.
Everything has meaning. nothing … that has no ~ の二段構え。
- There's no one here that has no part in this.(この件に関わりのない人など、ここにはいない)
- There's nothing he does that has no reason.(彼のすることに理由のないものはない)
PATTERN 3
I have never once been deceived in negotiations.
- She has never once missed a deadline.(彼女は一度も締切を落としたことがない)
- I have never once regretted it.(一度たりとも後悔したことはありません)
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use phrase
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
beat around the bush
- Stop beating around the bush and tell me.
- Wow, you don't beat around the bush, do you?
- He beat around the bush for ten minutes.
イギリスでは about(beat about the bush)を使います——Stop beating about the bush, will you?紛らわしいのがget to the point。
