Episode Summary
One whale becomes three, the line breaks, and the weakest person on the field is the one still shouting that they can win. A duchess turns that into a speech, an old swordsman finishes a fight forty years in the making, and then the whole second half of the episode is people trying to thank a boy who keeps insisting he did nothing. He turns down a position, keeps a promise, and finds out the next battle was already being arranged behind his back.

If ~ hasn't given up, how is it acceptable for …?（〜が諦めていないのに、…が許されようか）If our weakest man hasn't given up, how is it acceptable for the rest of us to kneel as if we've already lost?
いちばん弱い男が諦めていないのに、ほかの者が負けたかのように膝をつくことが許されようか？
how is it acceptable for ~ to ...? は「〜が…するなど許されるのか」という修辞疑問です。
他にも使える例：
It isn't in my nature to ~（〜するのは私の性分ではない）…it isn't in my nature to shamelessly claim your achievements for my own
あなたの功績を厚かましく自分のものにするのは、私の性分ではない
It isn't in my nature to ~ は「〜するのは私らしくない」です。
他にも使える例：
If I didn't already have ~, that would have been …（もし〜がなかったら、…だったところだ）…if I didn't already have a number one and number two firmly placed in my heart, that would have been a pretty close call
心に一番と二番がしっかり決まってなかったら、危ないところだったぜ
仮定法の混合で、現在の事実に反する条件と過去の結果を組み合わせています。
