Episode Summary

Goodbyes at the duchess's estate, then a long ride home to a mansion that has been emptied out. A returning maid explains what she found, a spirit in the forbidden library refuses to explain anything at all, and a twelve-year-old hands over a handkerchief for luck. By nightfall they are in woods built to make travellers lose their way — and one of them wakes up somewhere else.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

I was hoping you'd +

So I must admit I was hoping you'd live up to the hype.

I want you to ~ が要求なのに対し、I was hoping you'd ~ は遠回しな期待——断られる余地を残しているのが違い。

PATTERN 2

I would appreciate it if you'd +

And I would appreciate it if you'd treat me more like an adult, too!

I would appreciate it if ~ は丁寧な要求——やってもらう前提で礼を先に置くのが違い。

PATTERN 3

So be sure to take care of her also.

Don't forget to ~ が忘却の防止なのに対し、be sure to ~ は確実な実行——前向きに指示しているのが違い。

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

knight in shining armor

男女どちらにも使えます——She's been my knight in shining armor all week.(今週はずっと彼女に助けられっぱなしだ)紛らわしいのがlifesaver。
