🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
Am I to presume ~?(〜と受け取ってよろしいのですか)
Miss Emilia, am I to presume that your return means you finished the trial?
Does this mean ~? が口語なのに対し、Am I to presume ~?
- Am I to presume the matter is closed?(この件は終わったと受け取ってよろしいのですか)
- Am I to presume you'll be staying?(お残りになると受け取ってよろしいのですか)
PATTERN 2
For what reason did you ~?(いかなる理由で〜したのか)
Then tell me, for what reason did you disobey that order and come here?
Why did you ~? For what reason did you ~? What did you do it for?
- For what reason did you withhold this?(いかなる理由でこれを伏せたのか)
- For what reason did they refuse?(いかなる理由で断ったのでしょう)
PATTERN 3
Whatever one relies upon in life should be the thing that brings about their death.
- Whatever you measure tends to improve.(測るものは、たいてい良くなる)
- Whatever he touches turns into work.(彼が触るものは、何でも仕事になる)

★ TODAY'S PHRASE
walk a fine line
- Subaru will naturally choose to walk a very fine line in the final confrontation.
- The talk walks a fine line between honest and rude.
- We're walking a fine line here.
a fine line の fine は「細い」。 いちばんよく使う形が between です——walk a fine line between A and B で、両側に何があるかを示せます——The talk walks a fine line between honest and rude.(その話し方は、率直と失礼の紙一重だ)片側だけが危ないのではない、というのが要です——安全策も取りすぎれば失敗という場面にこそ効きます。tread a fine line
