Episode Summary
Every tower opens at once, so the episode keeps cutting away mid-argument. Two of the fights are settled by paperwork logic rather than swords: a sword that refuses to be drawn, and a merchant who insists on finishing his pitch.
have one's back against the wall / confront ~ head-on / put a stop to ~ といった実際に作中で使われている表現に、fester / humility / impertinent / invincibility / disgrace のような語彙を合わせました。

🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
Who in their right mind would ~?(〜する者がいるものか)
Who in their right mind would spend one second listening to someone like you?
Who in their right mind would ~? in one's right mind
- Who in their right mind would sign that?(まともな人間があれに署名するものか)
- Who in their right mind would drive in this?(この天気で運転する人がいますか)
PATTERN 2
It would appear ~(どうやら〜のようだ)
It would appear you have quite an absurd amount of power.
- It would appear the file was never sent.(どうやら送られていないようです)
- It would appear we disagree.(どうやら意見が合わないようですね)
PATTERN 3
Unless ~, …(〜
Unless its wielder faces an adversary who's worthy, it cannot be drawn from its sheath.
- Unless the invoice arrives today, we can't pay this month.(請求書が今日届かないかぎり、今月は払えません)
- Unless asked, he says nothing.(訊かれないかぎり、彼は何も言いません)
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use phrase
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
have one's back against the wall
- Those two were both being disrespectful, and I had their backs against the wall.
- With two weeks left, we had our backs against the wall.
- Their backs are against the wall, and they know it.
back は「背中」。 だから主語は追い詰められた側——追い詰めた側は put someone's back against the wall とput を使って言い分けます。 be動詞でも言えます——Our backs are against the wall. 紛らわしいのがback to the wall(英国寄りの言い方)。
