🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

As if ~ could ever …(〜

As if a simpleton like you could ever claim to understand me.

You can't ~ が否定の言明なのに対し、As if ~ could ever … As if のあとは仮定法で、could ever を入れると強まります。単独の As if!

PATTERN 2

Be aware that ~(〜を承知しておくこと)

Be aware that their very lives are depending on your voice.

You should know ~ が助言なのに対し、Be aware that ~ は通告——責任の所在を動かしているのが違い。

PATTERN 3

It's so childish to think ~(〜

It's so childish to think you could ever win, just by repeatedly hitting me!

You're wrong. It's so childish to think ~ は評価——人ではなく考えを撃っているのが違い。It is + 形容詞 + to 不定詞の型で、childish を naive / unrealistic に替えれば硬さと強さを調節できます。

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

maintain one's composure

compose(組み立てる・整える)と同じ根で、自分を整えておくという絵です。 紛らわしいのがcomposer(作曲家)。
