🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
I don't know about you, but …(あなたはどうか知らないけど)
I don't know about you, but I have a really bad feeling right now.
I don't know about you, but …
- I don't know about you, but I'd rather start early.(あなたはどうか分かりませんが、私は早く始めたいです)
- I don't know about you, but that looks wrong to me.(どうでしょう、私にはおかしく見えます)
PATTERN 2
Even though I don't look it, …(そう見えないけれど)
Even though I don't look it, as a kid they called me the ice princess.
Even though I don't look it it が前の形容詞や役を受ける代名詞——He doesn't look it, but he's fifty.
- Even though I don't look it, I'm the oldest here.(そう見えませんが、ここでは最年長です)
- She doesn't look it, but she runs the place.(そう見えませんが、切り回しているのは彼女です)
PATTERN 3
in the middle of ~ing(〜している途中で)
It's like hittin' the start button when you're in the middle of playin' a game!
while ~ing が同時なのに対し、in the middle of ~ing は真ん中——中断の色が出るのが違い。of のあとは名詞か ~ing——in the middle of lunch も言えます。
- I'm in the middle of a call.(いま電話の途中です)
- We were in the middle of packing when it rained.(荷造りの途中で雨になりました)
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use phrase
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
have cold feet
- Does somebody have cold feet?
- He had cold feet the night before the move.
- I'm getting cold feet about Friday.
have cold feet が状態で、get cold feet が変化——He got cold feet and called it off. 紛らわしいのがchicken out(おじけて降りる)。
