🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

第64話の実際のセリフから、中級で押さえたい文法を3つ。

PATTERN 1

There's no reason for you to + 動詞の原形(〜する必要はない)

There's no reason for you to fight now.

する理由が無いと言って、やめさせる形です。Don't do it. が禁止なのに対し、There's no reason for you to ~ は理由の否定——責めずに止められるのが違い。for you が「誰が」を示す部分。そこを替えればfor us / for them と使い回せます。気づかいの言い方として覚えておくと便利です。

他にも使える例:

PATTERN 2

every single + 名詞(ひとつ残らず)

I can still remember every single word that you said to me back then.

every に念押しを足して、漏れなしを強める形です。every word が「どの言葉も」なのに対し、every single word は強調——ひとつも欠けていないのが違い。single のあとは必ず単数——every single words とは言いません。day / time / page と組むのが定番です。

他にも使える例:

PATTERN 3

It's difficult for me to + 動詞の原形(〜するのが苦手だ)

It's difficult for me to express my true thoughts.

できないのではなく、やりにくいと言う形です。I can't ~ が不可能なのに対し、It's difficult for me to ~ は難しさ——やろうとはしているのが違い。for me が「誰にとって」。It is + 形容詞 + for A + to do の型なので、difficult を easy / important に替えればそのまま使い回せます。

他にも使える例:

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

feel up to it

⭐ 「いつか話すよ」と言った夫が、言葉を濁したときの一言です。気力か体力が、それをやれるところまで来ている——という形です。want to ~ が「やりたい」と、気持ちの向きを言うのに対し、feel up to it は自分の状態——いまの自分にそれだけの余力があるかを見ているところが違います。up to ~ は「〜に届く」。required なところまで自分が届いているか、という絵です。だから出番は、体調・気分が絡む場面——病み上がり・寝不足・落ち込んだあと。あとに動名詞も置けます——feel up to walking / cooking。いちばん便利なのは、誘うときの一言。if you feel up to it と添えるだけで、相手が断りやすくなります。紛らわしいのがbe up to ~(〜を企んでいる/〜次第だ)。feel が入るかどうかで意味がまるで変わるので、体調の話なら feel up to と覚えておくこと。

★★★★★ 5.0 / 5

第64話は「テレシア・ヴァン・アストレア」。出会いの場面、花のやりとり、出立の前の会話——静かな場面がいちばんよく効く回です。中級版はその会話に絞りました。

見出しはfeel up to it / shake ~ off / step down / in one's place / along the way のように、身を引くときと寄り添うときの言い回しを中心に据えました。語彙は someday / frustrating / concealed / aloud / parted のような回想の語で揃えています。

この回でとくに効くのは、やわらかく止める英語です。There's no reason for you to + 動詞の原形(〜する必要はない)、every single + 名詞(ひとつ残らず)、It's difficult for me to + 動詞の原形(〜するのが苦手だ)——理由から止める・漏れなしを強める・やりにくさを言う型が並んでいます。every single のあとは必ず単数です。

総合難易度:★★★☆☆(会話の言い回しが中心)/英語学習価値:★★★★★(今日そのまま言える形が揃っています)/おすすめ度:★★★★★。be blessed / fulfill a promise / That doesn't matter now. まで扱う、リゼロ第64話「テレシア・ヴァン・アストレア」の中級版です。
