Episode Summary
The party rides into a desert no one has crossed in four hundred years. The trick, a merchant explains, is not the sand but the space itself — and the few seconds when it stops twisting.

話し言葉なら be in a tight spot が近い形です。
- But we must expect the unexpected, I suppose.
- On a first visit, expect the unexpected.

🎯 Grammar Patterns
3 patterns
PATTERN 1
It's imperative that ~(〜することが絶対に必要だ)
It's imperative that we keep watch on the tower so we don't end up lost.
We have to ~ が義務なのに対し、It's imperative that ~ は最上級の必要——ほかに道がないのが違い。that 節の動詞は原形——he goes ではなく he go になります(仮定法現在)。
- It's imperative that everyone be on time.(全員が時間どおりに来ることが絶対に必要です)
- It's imperative that the data be checked twice.(データを二度確認することが不可欠です)
PATTERN 2
It would be unseemly of me to ~(〜するのは私としてはみっともない)
It would be unseemly of me to allow Ms. Emilia to shoulder all of the work.
It would be unseemly of me to ~ は体面——人としての見え方を言うのが違い。of me が「私という人間にしては」——kind of you / rude of him と同じ型です。
- It would be unseemly of me to take the credit.(手柄を取るなど、私には似合いません)
- It was kind of you to wait.(待ってくださって、ご親切に)
PATTERN 3
Thank you for granting me my request, however selfish.
, however slight.
- However hard it looks, we start Monday.(どれほど難しく見えても、月曜に始めます)
- However late you arrive, call me.(どんなに遅くなっても、電話してください)
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use phrase
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
let up
- The periods between the sand times are when the distortion lets up.
- We'll start once the rain lets up.
- The pressure never let up all week.
The rain finally let up. He never lets up. 命令形の Don't let up. 紛らわしいのがlet ~ down(期待を裏切る)。
