Episode Summary

Subaru goes to the village and makes sure every suspect touches a different part of him — then has the curse read off his body like a map. The mark points to the puppy the children were playing with, which means the children are next. With the lord of the house away and the mansion possibly the real target, he argues his way into a rescue party of two, walks into the forest with the blue-haired maid, and finds out what he is worth in a fight.

01

check on ~

  • Well, I came to check on him since break time's almost over.
  • Can you check on the baby?

02

I don't mind it.

  • I suppose I don't mind it.
  • The noise? I don't mind it.

I like it. I don't mind it.

03

have one's way

  • All right, have your way a little bit longer.
  • Fine, have your way this once.

Do what you want. get one's way

04

be tame

  • Weird. She's usually so tame.
  • The rabbits here are surprisingly tame.

  • Oh, now's my chance!
  • The line's short — now's my chance.

Let's go. が動き出すのに対し、Now's my chance. Now is my chance.

06

matter to ~

  • All of those kids matter to me.
  • It matters to her more than you think.

07

Job well done.

  • Yes, yes. Job well done.
  • Job well done, everyone.

Good job. A job well done.

  • Several of the village children have suddenly gone missing.
  • My umbrella went missing again.

go + 形容詞の形(go bad / go quiet と同じ作り)。

  • Get some help. Tell everyone.
  • Don't lift that alone — get some help.

🎯 Grammar Patterns 3 patterns

PATTERN 1

I wish I knew ~(〜

What'd you do to make her so mad at you? — I wish I knew the answer to that one.

I don't know. wish のうしろは過去形(× I wish I know)。

PATTERN 2

It won't be long before ~(まもなく〜する)

Meina's excited because it won't be long before she'll have a little baby sister.

It won't be long before ~ は「待つ時間が残り少ない」——待っている側の気持ちが入るのが違い。 (It won't be long before they notice.)。

PATTERN 3

Are you trying to tell me ~?(〜って言いたいの?)

Whoa, hang on a sec. Are you trying to tell me tons more dogs are out there?

Do you mean ~? Are you trying to tell me ~?

🎯 Today's Phrase Native daily-use phrase

★ TODAY'S PHRASE

It's what you get for ~

That's your fault. It's what you get for ~ は「自業自得」——結果のほうを指して言うところまで含みます。 for のうしろは動詞ing か名詞(for being late / for your carelessness)。 That's what I get for rushing.(急いだ報いだな)と自嘲にもなります。紛らわしいのがYou asked for it.。 It's what you get for ~、自分から求めた結果が You asked for it.

見出しはcheck on ~ / Now's my chance. / go missing / Get some help. / I'm off.

I wish I knew ~(〜が分かればいいのに)、It won't be long before ~(まもなく〜する)、Are you trying to tell me ~?(〜って言いたいの?)——もどかしさを言う・残り時間を言う・驚いて確かめる型が並んでいます。
