Episode Summary
Twilight works through every route to a Stella — study, art, music, sports, then volunteering at a hospital, where the Forgers are politely asked to leave for doing more harm than good. Anya earns one anyway, by hearing a boy drowning in a pool nobody was watching. The badge makes her the talk of the school for about a day, until envy sets in — and Damian, of all people, defends the school's judgment. Anya asks for a dog as her reward.

表現make a deal約束する・取り決める
💡 make a deal は「取り引きする・約束する」。家庭のルール決めにもビジネスの交渉にも使えます。It's a deal.（決まりだ）も定番です。
例文
Let's make a deal: you cook, I'll wash the dishes.
取り決めをしよう。君が料理して、僕が皿を洗う。
On second thought, maybe I'm pushing her too hard.
訳いや、考え直すと、無理をさせすぎているのかもしれない。
表現push ~ too hard〜に無理をさせる
💡 push は「押す・駆り立てる」。push ~ too hard で「〜を追い込みすぎる」。On second thought（考え直すと）と組んでいます。
例文
Don't push yourself too hard. Take a break.
無理しすぎないで。休憩して。
How about you tidy up the books in the library?
訳図書室の本の整理をお願いできますか？
表現tidy up ~〜を片付ける
💡 tidy は「きちんとした」。tidy up ~ で「〜を整頓する」。clean up より「散らかったものを元に戻す」ニュアンスです。
例文
Please tidy up your room before dinner.
夕食前に部屋を片付けてね。
I've had enough! Will you leave?
訳もう結構です！出て行ってもらえますか？
表現have had enoughもうたくさんだ
💡 have had enough (of ~) は「（〜は）もう十分＝うんざりだ」。我慢の限界を伝える強い言い方です。
例文
I've had enough of this noise!
この騒音にはもううんざりだ！
So much for my idea of getting a community service Stella.
訳奉仕活動で星（ステラ）をもらう作戦は失敗か。
表現So much for ~〜はもうおしまいだ
💡 So much for ~ は「〜もここまでか」。計画や期待がだめになったときの苦笑まじりの決まり文句です。

It's raining. So much for our picnic.
雨だ。ピクニックはおじゃんだ。

訳きっとみんな、あなたに憧れてるわ！
表現look up to ~〜を尊敬する
💡 見上げるという形で「尊敬する・憧れる」。反対は look down on ~（見下す）で、セットで覚えると便利です。
例文
I've always looked up to my older sister.
私はずっと姉を尊敬してきた。
Don't get a big head, kid!
訳調子に乗るなよ！
表現get a big headいい気になる
💡 頭が大きくなるという形で「うぬぼれる・天狗になる」。Don't get a big head. はほめた後の釘刺しによく使います。
例文
He won one game and got a big head.
彼は一度勝っただけでいい気になった。
Don't pay any attention to them. They're all just jealous of you.
訳あんな子たち気にしないで。みんなやきもちを焼いてるだけよ。
表現pay attention to ~〜に注意を払う
💡 pay attention to ~ は「〜に注意を向ける」。Don't pay any attention to ~ で「〜は気にしなくていい」となぐさめる言い方になります。
例文
Don't pay attention to rumors.
うわさなんか気にしないで。
Sure, but don't waste it on something so cheap.
訳いいけど、そんな安いものに使っちゃもったいないわ。
表現waste ~ on …〜を…に無駄に使う
💡 waste ~ on … は「〜を…に浪費する」。お金・時間・チャンスなどに使い、もったいないという気持ちを表します。
例文
Don't waste your money on things you don't need.
要らないものにお金を無駄遣いしないで。
A dog. Yeah, maybe. I'm open to discussion about it.
訳犬か。まあ、考えてみてもいい。
表現be open to discussion話し合いの余地がある
💡 open to ~ は「〜を受け入れる余地がある」。open to discussion / suggestions で「相談に応じる」と柔軟な姿勢を示します。
例文
The price is open to discussion.
価格は相談に応じます。

第11話の実際のセリフから、中級で押さえたい文法を3つ。
They're not ~, but that's the job.（〜じゃないけど、それが仕事だ）They're not pretty, but that's the job.
きれいな仕事ではありませんが、それが仕事ですから。
not ~, but that's the job は「〜ではないが、仕事とはそういうもの」と割り切る型。嫌な作業を頼むときの前置きにもなります。
他にも使える例：
If it'll help you ~, it's gotta be worth it.（〜できるようになるなら、やる価値はある）But if it'll help you run again, it's gotta be worth it, don't you think?
でも、また走れるようになるなら、頑張る価値はあるでしょ？
If it'll help you ~ で目的を示し、it's gotta be worth it（きっと価値がある）でつらい努力を後押しする型です。
他にも使える例：
That might be a little too much to ask for.（それはちょっと高望みかも）Okay, that might be a little too much to ask for.
うーん、それはちょっと無理があるかも。
too much to ask for は「求めすぎ・高望み」。might be a little でやんわりと相手の要求を退ける型です。
