Episode Summary
A young soldier who lost everything in a bombing meets a deserter in a trench and hears an argument he cannot answer: that people can be made to approve of violence if someone gives them a reason. A chance reunion with childhood friends exposes the false name he enlisted under, and a man with no rank insignia offers him a choice between a court martial and a new line of work.
