Episode Summary
Two school buses fail to arrive at the museum, and a school, a police force and a security service that answer to different masters spend the day arguing about who has the authority to act. On board, a girl who can hear what the men at the front are thinking works out where they are headed, and a boy who has spent the whole year being insufferable does the bravest thing anyone does that day.

💡 go south は「南へ行く」＝「（状況が）悪化する」。地図で下＝下降のイメージから来た口語表現です。

💡 jurisdiction は「管轄（権）」。squarely（まともに・完全に）を添えて口出し無用を強く示します。

It's like ~ says, …（〜が言うように、…）It's like father says, those who lead still must protect those beneath them.
父上が言うように、上に立つ者は下の者を守らねばならない。
It's like ~ says は「〜の言うとおり」と教えを引用する前置き。those who ~（〜する人々）も重要構文です。
他にも使える例：
Just as A ~, B …（Aが〜するのと同様に、Bも…）Just as you police officers have a duty to protect the citizens, the State Security has an obligation to protect the whole country.
警察に市民を守る義務があるように、国家保安局には国全体を守る責務がある。
Just as ~, … は「〜と同じように…」。相手の立場を認めつつ自分の論理を通す対比の型です。
他にも使える例：
at the cost of ~ing（〜を犠牲にして）So are you willing to save these few dozen civilians at the cost of putting the lives of everyone in Ostania in harms' way?
では、数十人の民間人を救うために、オスタニア全国民の命を危険にさらすというのか？
at the cost of ~ は「〜を代償にして」。be willing to ~（進んで〜する）と組んで覚悟を問う型です。
