Episode Summary
An old schoolmaster walks onto a hijacked bus carrying rations, having decided that a feeble old man poses no threat, and ends up in a long argument with a man who once believed in non-violent resistance and lost a daughter along the way. The girl beside them keeps asking for more snacks, and it turns out she is not asking for herself.

We will get through this.
- Don't worry. We will get through this.
- It's hard now, but we will get through this.
It'll be fine. We will get through this.

- Do you have children of your own?
- Do you have children of your own, if I may ask?
Do you have children? of one's own はa place of my own(自分の家)のように持ち物にも使えます。
- Go easy on me, would ya?
- It's my first time — go easy on me.
Be nice. が態度なのに対し、Go easy on me. go easy on + 人のほか、go easy on the salt(塩は控えめに)のように物にも使えます。

- Be the giver, not the taker.
- In this house we say: be the giver, not the taker.

- You've gotten involved with another one of those student protests, haven't you?
- Don't get involved with people like that.
with のうしろは人や団体、in のうしろは活動——get involved in politics のように使い分けます。
- Don't "maybe" me!
- Don't "maybe" me — yes or no?
Don't dodge the question.

- The field trip is running over time?
- The meeting ran over time again.

- You've already had more than enough to eat, okay?
- One is more than enough for me.
That's more than enough, thank you.

PATTERN 1
You'd better not be thinking about ~ing(〜
You'd better not be thinking about running off.
Don't run off. You'd better not be thinking about ~ing had better not + 動詞の原形が骨組みで、be thinking about ~ing を挟むと「その気になっていないだろうな」になります。

- You'd better not be thinking about paying for this.(おごろうなんて思ってないでしょうね)
PATTERN 2

You did it. You're the one who ~ は特定——ほかでもないあなたと絞るのが違い。the one who + 動詞で「〜する人」。
- You're the one who suggested it.(言い出したのはあなたですよ)
- You're the one who taught me that.(それを教えてくれたのはあなたです)
🎯 Today's Phrase
Native daily-use expression
★ TODAY'S PHRASE
Be the giver, not the taker.
- Be the giver, not the taker.
- In this house we say: be the giver, not the taker.
- He lived by one rule — be the giver, not the taker.
Be kind. give → giver、take → taker。英語はこの手が本当に得意で、その場で作っても通じます——a doer, not a talker(口ではなく行動の人)、a fixer(話をまとめる人)。 Don't hold each other down. Help each other up instead.
