Episode Summary
Deaf once more to his own piano, Kosei races through the Chopin like a man fleeing a rising tide, and then stops dead in the middle of the piece. The hall assumes he has given up; instead he thinks of Kaori, starts again and plays for her alone, filling the hall with chalk dust, cherry blossom and April. He is disqualified all the same, leaving the judges torn between outrage and something suspiciously like being moved.
