Episode Summary

With Kaori missing, Kosei plays their duet as a piano solo from memory, first hammering it out in sheer indignation and then, as memories of his mother return, gently enough to say goodbye to her. The winner who refused to swap slots finds him an impossible act to follow, Hiroko worries aloud about what music will cost the boy next, and Kosei learns why Kaori never turned up: she has collapsed again.
