PATTERN 1
There's a chance, so I'm taking it.（可能性があるなら、それに賭ける）
But they said there's a chance, so I'm taking it.
でも可能性はあるって言われたから、それに賭けるの。
take a chance は「賭けてみる」。it がthe chance を指します。
他にも使える例：
